Understanding different WL/BL combinations and what they imply

In case you're having doubts about the different possible combinations of blacklists and whitelists (both for Supply ID and Site ID), we've got some examples for you!

In our stats panel you'll notice the Supply ID and the Site ID. The supply ID (ex: 234) is the one sending the traffic, and each one of them has multiple Site IDs (ex: 234-19, 234-23, etc).

There is the possibility of including specific Supply IDs or Site IDs in your campaign, or, in the other hand, exclude them.

👉If you are unsure which Site ID to add or remove, please contact your manager through chat. We will give you information on how to improve your campaign.

Examples

Check out these different examples that might help you understanding it better.

Example #1

Supply ID whitelist: 92, 468, 295, 598

Site ID whitelist: /

Supply ID blacklist: /

Site ID blacklist: /

*In this case, the campaign will only receive traffic from supply ID’s 92, 468, 295, 598, which means from all site ID’s belonging to these suppliers.

Example #2

Supply ID whitelist: 92, 468, 295, 598

Site ID whitelist: 92-1009631+98561975, 92-1009631+763411204

Supply ID blacklist: /

Site ID blacklist: /

*In this case, the campaign will receive traffic from all site IDs among suppliers 92, 468, 295 and 598.

In case you only want traffic from certain Site IDs, you must not include the Supply ID in the whitelist, otherwise all sites will be sending traffic.

Example #3

Supply ID whitelist: 92, 468, 295, 598

Site ID whitelist: 234-19

Supply ID blacklist: /

Site ID blacklist: /

*In this case, the campaign will receive traffic from all siteIDs among suppliers 92, 468, 295 and 598, plus the siteID 19 from supplyId 234

Example #4

Supply ID whitelist: /

Site ID whitelist: 234-19, 92-1009631+98561975, 92-1009631+763411204

Supply ID blacklist: /

Site ID blacklist: /

*In this case, the campaign will receive traffic only from SiteIDs 234-19, 92-1009631+98561975, 92-1009631+763411204. There’s no need of mentioning the SupplyIDs in the whitelist.

Example #5

Supply ID whitelist: /

Site ID whitelist: 234-19

Supply ID blacklist: 234, 295

Site ID blacklist: /

*In this case the campaign won’t receive traffic from anywhere. By placing 234-19 into SiteID whitelist, you’re asking to receive traffic only from siteId 234-19 (belonging to supply 234), and at the same time Blacklisting supply 234 means you don’t want any traffic from them. The WL will discard any bid coming from any siteId outside 234-19, and the BL will discard all bids coming from supply 234, including site 234-19.

Example #6

Supply ID whitelist: 92, 468, 295, 598

Site ID whitelist: /

Supply ID blacklist: /

Site ID blacklist: 295-31

*In this case, the campaign will have traffic only from Supply IDs 92, 468, 295 and 598. It won’t have any traffic from the site ID 295-31, but it will from the rest of Site IDs belonging to supplier 295.

Example #7

Supply ID whitelist: 92, 468, 295, 598

Site ID whitelist: /

Supply ID blacklist: 92

Site ID blacklist: /

*In this case, the campaign will have traffic only from Supply IDs 468, 295 and 598. Even though Supply ID 92 is whitelisted, it won’t have traffic because it’s also blacklisted.
